You're So Funny God

God is incredible.
A few weeks back I was in the depths of despair over the non-requested drama in my life. I searched high and low for encouragement from all sources. If you know me, you know this is very unlike me because I believe in going straight to the Bible for everything. Instead, I had been looking everywhere else for the encouragement. Here I was, doing exactly what I didn't believe in...ugh. How easily we slip off the narrow road.
Anyway, I recovered from my temporary slip and began my beloved Bible readings and my Bible study. Upon reading the text in my study I had to laugh out loud, "God, you're so funny". Lo and behold my text read: "have you ever needed encouragement but your friends, family, books, church weren't helping? Have you had times when nothing or nobody could take you out of the pit that you were in?"
I know you know where I'm going with this but humor me and read on...

The reason "I" cuoldn't find the encouragement that I so desperately needed was because God didn't allow it. Yep, you read right. GOD DIDN'T ALLOW IT.
Now, do you know why? It's because He wanted me to rely solely on HIM. He wanted me to give it all to Him. Isn't our Father incredible?
I couldn't find relief until I looked only to Him for the encouragement. Once I did I was, and still am, so filled with joy. I feel like I could jump right out of my skin sometimes!
I'm so thankful for His provision in my life. I feel silly for even slipping, but I know that my Heavenly Father doesn't hold that against me. His desire is to draw me nearer and I'm SO very joyful on this journey!

So please don't look elsewhere for the joy. The daytime Dr., the Big O, self help books, none of those will bring you to a place of rest. Don't rely on man to fulfill a spot that should be reserved soley for the King of Kings.
